Nothing makes me happier than these two clips

Hey all, rumor has it the site goes dark at Midnight, but wait until you see the new one, it is fucking awesome. Dave Cenko, designer extraordinaire and Stephe have been working on the new site for months, the one you're looking at now they created by throwing darts at a list of HTML over an afternoon. Say goodbye to Otisburg, now you're going to have an incredible interface all housed on an interactive front page, so whenever anything on the site is update it will just appear there, it's so cool, I can't wait to start playing on it. So check back I believe next Wednesday. Until then I jet out of L.A. at 7am, destination, Chicago. I feel like quite the jetsetter as I was just on a plane a week ago.

Usually I try and do as close to a real-time post as possible.during the retreats as possible, what I will do instead is collect them in real-time throughout the retreat and post them one at a time as a Grand opening special on Schadenfreude.net 2.0. It's been a long time since this and this. Haha.

Until then I'll leave you with this. Some inspiration for you and me and Schadenfreude as we write an entire screenplay in a week and a half.

I have been an avid collector of pop songs from montages in 80's movies. "Playin' With The Boys" from Top Gun, "Win In The End" from Teen Wolf, "You're The Best Around" from Karate Kid, "Winner Takes It All" by Sammy Hagar from Over The Top, I have hundreds of these and we even based an entire radio episode on these songs episode 38

My two favorites are from Rocky IV, a movie I hadn't seen since it was in the theatres. So I've listened to these songs 100's of times since them, basically out of context. Then recently I rented Rocky I-IV (I'm not avoiding V, it just hasn't come yet) and realized that I'd never seen the first three Rocky's. They're great. I and II are amazing movies, just really really top notch, and III and IV are cartoons, and I love them all for being what they are.

When Rocky IV finally got to the two greatest moments I was just so happy. Watching these two montages makes me smile big as hell.

So here they are, and remember, YOU CAN DO IT, Rocky, Daniel-San, Teen Wolf, Up The Creek gang, Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines, Schadenfreude.

If I have a hero, it's James Cameron

Wanna know what he's up to?

It is the nicest day you've ever experienced...again

No time to post because I've got to get back to work.

DSCN7432

Yeah. That's work, though I'm under a huge deadline because I'm leaving for Chicago. I should have two more weeks to get these five episodes of GGW done, instead I have two days. So it is work, but every once in a while you take a step back and realize that work is boobs.

I don't want to be that dick, but holy shit is it the nicest day ever...again. One of those days you'd seriously love to ditch out on work, if it weren't going to be like this tomorrow. It's like they voted on the weather.

Had a great week. I unfortunately had to quit my logging job on Paradise City to finish editing this.

DSCN7668

Here's Mike and Tiffany logging the billionth hour of Jenner and Jack's boring-ass date. I can't wait to see this show on, I love it, I loved the job, best job I've ever had and I hope it gets picked up so I can sit down again with the PC crew and jump back in.

Instead my view has changed from that, to this.

DSCN7646

My pals who live on the premises of the edit cave.

DSCN7682

The last couple days were awesome, got up Saturday and had breakfast at the 101 with my new roommate, Ryan.

DSCN7690

Ryan and I are having a great time hanging out. I miss everyone in Chicago, but I missed my friends here for longer, and just feel incredibly lucky to hang out with them, it makes me appreciate them better.

Later that night after a marathon editing session, Ryan and I got blazingly drunk at Birds in Los Feliz, where every surface gets danced on at some point. Birds is a really really fun place.

DSCN7755

Then Lenny picked me up and we went out and met Jonathan Buchanan, ex-Chicagoan (everyone is here) and lontime friends of Chad Wilson and Ryan Taylor, he's straight out of their playbook. He directed this ridiculous video which Chad and Ryan showed me years ago.

We met at a hilariously lame club on Ventura in Studio City which consisted of twenty people sitting in booths and a freestle rapper rapping to a dancefloor consisting of some forty year old Bosnian dude dancing by himself, employing Riverdance moves wherever non-applicable.

The next day Lenny drove me up to the Hollywood hills to work on GGW, it was the nicest day you could possibly imagine, and we cruised with the top down in the Thunderchicken.

DSCN7806

I got to the house early and got to sit on the cliff overlooking L.A. while waiting.

DSCN7861

Damn, I'm having a good time. It's like vacation.

I can't wait to get back to Chicago

Saw this on youtube, this song puts me immediatly in the Old Town Ale House, which I must stop by while in Chicago.

I'm so excited to do banal things while I'm back in Chicago for a week, like ride the Brown Line, walk through Daley Plaza, browse at the Borders on Michigan, see a movie at the Music Box, browse at Chicago Comics, get coffee at The Grind in Lincoln Square, watch a movie with Chris Sienko, smoke a cigarette on Charley's porch, if there's time for any of that. There might not be for the non-banal thing I'm excited about. Writing Phudi Mart, which I might do at The Grind, The Borders, the Brown Line...

Short-Haired Chick Classic!

02

You just can't beat a classic. If you were to take all the perfect features that made up the perfect short-haired chick and then Weird Scienced them all together, the sum would be Winona.

001-2

I'm of two minds looking at Winona. On the basic level where I don't think too much, she's gorgeous, I mean, It's Winona Ryder look at her! Then, for me, and I'm pretty sure for you too, the innocent ga-ga affection record scratches. Oh yeah, she's batshit crazy and shoplifted and is on enough pills to make Hunter S. Thompson puke.

03

That's too bad because there's so much innocent beauty going on there. In fact I think it's a testament to her innocent, natural beauty that the batshit crazy image of her comes so secondary, because a millionaire shoplifting is batshit crazy.

04

I don't want to belabor the point, but now that I'm typing about it...what the fuck was up with the shoplifting? I mean where does that come into the picture? Is it a thrill thing? A "so blitzed on happy/sads that she didn't even know she was doing it" thing? And then to be so ghetto about it? Who cuts the shirt to remove the tags, in the store, on camera?

Check this out.
02-3
How much would I have been into Winona in the 6th grade?

03-1
Or High School?

Actually, I guess I was into Winona when she was in High School, wasn't she in Edward Scissorhands when I was in High School? Actually that's a good memory, I saw Edward Scissorhands with my High School sweetheart. She had a big crush on 21 Jumpstreet's Johnny Depp.

08-1

Remember Winona in Lucas, love at first sight when I saw that film. I always empathized with Corey Haim, felt like I was in a similar spot, nerdwise. But I didn't date anyone that looked like Winona Ryder in grade school, and now I realize that Corey Haim was fighting the women off with a rake at that time. I feel a little betrayed. I bet that movie sucks now.

You haven't forgotten about the shoplifting have you? Me neither. I tried to get off the topic. I hate when movie stars let me into their personal lives. I just don't need to know, can't I just think of you as the sweet sweet Man Without A Face?

08-2

What do you think she's doing right now? She doesn't do movies any more, what was the last movie she was in? Part of the problem is that she basically ruled the Earth if you wanted to cast someone to play an innocent girl from 1986-2003.

08

Daaaaaaaaaamn. You can't beat the big doey anime eyes, can you? This is a very recent picture. Is it just me or has Winona shrunk? She's really thin now, probably another problem Matt Damon narrowly avoided dealing with.

02-2

Remember when he and Ben Affleck got famous real quick and started dating the girls that, like me, they'd had crushes on as fans? How cool would that be? Like if I got to do Nastassja Kinski? I guess Matt dodged a bullet, though.

02-1
You just want to kiss all over that don't you?

01-1
I found this on a fansite. That's her tummy allright.

01
SO CUTE!!!

001
Those last couple were so cute I actually forgot. Did you? It takes real beauty to make you forget something that batshit crazy.
