Always an exciting day

When you're a live-action superhero nut like I am there's an anticipation for the first release of any photo's of the people you know an love in the 2D world of comics or cartoons as real live people. The best feeling when finally seeing these movies is the feeling that you are seeing that person brought to life. The very first shot of Wolverine fighting in the cage in X-Men 1 was an amazing moment because all I could say is "That's fucking Wolverine." When I saw the Hulk, that was the fucking Hulk. So 6 months ago the revealed that Thomas Haden Church had been cast in Spider-Man 3, but who would he play. The rumor became pretty solid that he would be playing Sandman.

And now, finally, we get to see him in our world. I love this moment. Always an exciting day. Ladies and Gentlemen I bring you a living and breathing Sandman who walks in the same world as you or I.

Sandman!!

I know it's just a guy in a green shirt. But for me this is very exciting.

Aw yeah. Love the skin tone (very "sandy" in color) and thank god they kept the Green Striped Shirt.

Now if Topher Grace is Venom (a cool idea, to have another geekish looking guy be like spidey) then it'll be interesting to see how they weave in the alien costume.

Glad to see Hollywood giving heroes their serious due.

I know its already been said, but I love the fact that the new directors of these superhero films are getting legit character actos - not worrying about if the actor is a "star" (see Schwartzennegar in Batman 4), but that s/he can breath life into these wonderful, rich characters. And the public is buying it, too - look at how Catwoman stunk up the joint, even though it had Halle Berry in a bunch of underwear.

When I heard Alfred Molina was going to be Doctor Octopus last film, I couldn't believe what a good choice it was. And now this -Thomas Hayden Church is owning Sandman right now.

Can't wait for Electro, the Lizard (seen in the last film!!!!), the Prowler, the Shocker, the Beetle!!!!

And my all time favorite, the Hobgoblin - some of the best Spiderman stories of the 80s were about Hobgoblin.

Yeah, such a good idea, The Lizard is another subtle choice of actor (forget his name, but the guy from Happiness). He's so owning Sandman. I need to see Kraven, the story where Kraven buries spider-man alive and then blows his head off. Best story ever. At the same time the best Hobgoblin sotry was running in PPTSSM with Silver Sable, the Rose. Those black costume runs of Spidey in 80's ruled. That and Secret Wars.

Hey Adam,
I wanted to poke myself in here and say "hello" but I found it difficult at first. Originally reading your blog I thought, "wow, Adam and I have zero in common," but then I realized on closer inspection that we have almost the exact same interests. It's just that you have the motivation and energy to pursue your interests and I don't. I'd love to be a comic book reader. I just don't have the attention span. I'd love to get political but my politics only make it as far as the next commercial break. I'd love to have watched all the classic cinema that I own on DVD like "metropolis," "Nosferatu", "Mean Streets", "Vertigo" etc. but did you know that King of the Hill is on ALL of the time?
So ultimately, I'm trying to give you props here. I'm simply an aspiring "aspiring Adam". Just not good at aspiring.
